The Menzies Director, Professor Alison Venn:
“The first few years of a child’s life lay the foundations for their future,”
“The early years have life-long impacts on education, health, job opportunities, and social inclusion.”
“…When children’s pathways through services are known and linked to child outcomes… [they] improve children’s health and wellbeing, education and care before they start full-time school.”
Phillip O'Neill is professor of economic geography at Western Sydney University:
"Probably, everyone agrees that the infant years are the most important in setting up a life. Educational success, good health, personal confidence, social skills, the capacity to care and love, they all rely unfairly on what happens in those early years...
Nothing succeeds like education in preparing for the future: getting a job, staying healthy, living fruitfully among others. And nothing generates education success like a good start in infancy..."

✨ Our Reflective Practice
Together with our Educational Leader, we’ve developed a critical reflection process that supports ongoing growth and improvement in our practice. This involves:
📝 Recalling and describing events — noting what worked well and what didn’t 🔍 Evaluating why situations occurred — uncovering issues, gaps, insights, and learning opportunities 💭 Recognising emotional responses, biases, and assumptions — building self-awareness 🚀 Creating action plans — acknowledging growth and integrating new learnings into future practice
IDENTITY
Children have a strong sense of identity

LEARNERS
Children are Confident and Involved Learners

BELONGING, BEING AND BECOMING are at the centre of School Education from birth to 12 years of age. The Curriculum Framework outlines the Principles and Practices that are embedded into the Learning Outcomes.
The PRINCIPLES of childhood pedagogy underpin practice.
Educators draw on a rich repertoire of pedagogical PRACTICES to inform curriculum for children's learning, development and wellbeing.
These LEARNING OUTCOME areas are all part of the Learning Framework for children from 0-12 years of age. These Educational Outcomes will lead to a child having a sense of BELONGING BEING BECOMING.

Educational Planning Cycle
📚 Educator's planning is inspired and informed by their thoughtful analysis of the information collected and their documentation. 🎯 Educators are intentional in their choice of appropriate learning and teaching strategies, content, resources, design of the use of time, and indoor and outdoor learning environments. 🎨 Play-based pedagogies are at the core of planning meaningful learning experiences for the children. 🌱 When educators are implementing the program, they extend children's learning during structured and spontaneous adult-led activities and materials provided.

WELLBEING

🧩 Partnering with Families
We believe strong communication between educators and families is key to supporting each child’s growth and development.
📔 Daily Diaries — Educators document your child’s day, including activities aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework—Australia’s national curriculum for children from birth to age 12.
📈 Ongoing Observations — Regular updates are shared with families, highlighting your child’s progress, interests, and engagement with the program. These insights help you support learning and play at home.
💬 Welcoming Feedback — Our Family Day Care Educators encourage both regular and spontaneous feedback from parents. Your input helps shape a program that reflects your child’s unique needs and interests.
